Isaac CAMPBELL
was a lawyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a one-time member of the Manitoba legislature,
and a collector of Lincolniana.

of Isaac CAMPBELL 19 Jun 1853 on the farm of his uncle Peter CAMPBELL
[1819-1915] and aunt Isabel McLARTY [1824-1917] near Morpeth, Howard Township,
Kent County, Ontario. He is the first of six children of Duncan CAMPBELL
[1822-1908] and Elizabeth McDIARMID [1830-1098]. Peter, Isabel, and Elizabeth
were born in Scotland. Duncan was born in the Town of Russia, Herkimer
County, New York, just a few months after his and Peter's parents arrived
from Scotland in 1821.

"New Granada: Twenty Months in the Andes" is inscribed "Isaac Campbell,
Morpeth, 1869." I possess this 605-page tome today only because it somehow
got into the possession of Isaac's first cousin/my Grandfather, George
Alexander CAMPBELL [1869-1943]. (Isaac and George were born on the same
farm near Morpeth, Ontario.)

on the wet grass" - Toronto law student Isaac CAMPBELL writes 01 Nov
1876 to his father's first cousin Allan SMITH (age 54), a farmer in the
Town of Russia, Herkimer County, New York.

Isaac is admitted to the Ontario bar.

Isaac moves from Ontario to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the same year
as the entire family of his uncle Peter CAMPBELL (age 63), including his
cousin George Alexander CAMPBELL (age 13), moves
from Ontario to Portage-La-Prairie, Manitoba.

contributes the Hough Prize in football to the Galt Collegiate Institute (GCI) in Cambridge, Ontario.

McDIARMID 01 Feb 1888 in Ontario. Because Enos and Lizzy are first cousins,
his parents refuse to attend the ceremony.

Isaac is elected to the Manitoba legislature representing South
Winnipeg.

Isaac is appointed Winnipeg city solicitor, a position he occupies
for 28 years (until 1916).

Isaac is admitted to bar of the Northwest Territories.

"Self contained character and a stern adherence
to justice and truth" - Winnipeg lawyer Isaac CAMPBELL writes to his
father's first cousin Allan SMITH (age 67) in the Town of Russia, New York,
17 Sep 1889 -- and describes a trip by bicycle to visit the family of his
uncle Peter CAMPBELL (age 70) in Portage-La-Prairie, Manatoba. This 11-page
letter bridges our family's history from upstate New York, to Ontario,
to Western Canada, and to the Midwest. I think it's probably the most interesting
single document which has survived from our ancestors.

County, New York. Allen is buried in Woodin's Corner Cemetery, Town of
Russia.

Wedding of Isaac CAMPBELL and May Bell TAYLOR in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He is wed for the first and only time. She is the widow of Donald NILES
and mother of May NILES and Campbell NILES.

Death of Isaac's father Duncan CAMPBELL 30 Nov 1908 in Ontario.
We have a newspaper clipping about the funeral indicating that the
funeral was attended by Isaac from Winnipeg and by George Alexander CAMPBELL
from the US. Isaac's mother Elizabeth (Lizzie) McDIARMID Campbell dies
the same year. Duncan and Lizzy are buried together in Morpeth Cemetery,
Morpeth, Howard Township, Kent County, Ontario.

a lawyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Isaac is a pall-bearer at the funeral.

Death of Isaac's brother Enos Malcolm CAMPBELL.

Military wedding of May NILES and Major Gerald
Purves LOGGIE 21 Sep 1920 at St. Stephen's Broadway United Church,
Winnipeg, Manitoba. Isaac gives away the bride. Loggie will rise to Brigadier
General in the Canadian Army.

Birth & death of Amelia LOGGIE in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The first
child of May NILES and Gerald Purves LOGGIE, Amelia lives only two days
(28-30 Dec 1922). She is followed by three other children -- Thomas Campbell
LOGGIE, Mary Elizabeth Harrison LOGGIE, and Richard Donald Purves LOGGIE
-- all of whom are born in Winnipeg.

death by a telegram sent to his train.

Winnipeg, Manitoba. Isaac is buried in Kildonan Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

L. W. BODDY never had any children. She was a prolific letter writter and
is buried in Morpeth Cemetery, Morpeth, Howard Township, Kent County, Ontario.

of Isaac's sister Elizabeth (Lizzy) CAMPBELL age 69. Lizzy never married
and lived in Windsor, Ontario.

207 Cockburn Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. May is buried with Isaac in Kildonan
Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Aug 1943 age 74 at "Argyle," his summer cottage in Campell Park, Pentwater,
Michigan. George is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
